Something Seriously Creepy
So!
|
Wednesday night was the big election meeting here for the homeowner's assoc. board. It was different than any other meeting I've been to....for one there was a bunch of people there as opposed to the handful that usually show up. It started 30 min later than normal and the first 45 minutes was taken up with vote counting and a fire safety presentation.
After the votes were in and the 3 winners announced (everyone I voted for won. Yay!) the new board retired to the back room to vote on officers; president, vice pres, treasurer, secretary and asst treas. Luckily they like me and I was able to stay on as secretary.
But the point here is this: I have a tape recorder that I use to tape the meetings so I don't miss anything. It sits in front of me and is pretty good at picking up sound. However, the farther away you are, the harder it is to hear. If you're whispering, there's a good chance that unless you're standing smack-dab next to me, it's not going to pick it up.
Except yesterday while I was working on the minutes, I got to the point where the new board left to vote. There were pieces of conversations as the members filed by me...Chris asking about the gavel, Jim saying something to either Frank or my dad and their answer of "Whatever, Jim." It was after hearing that that I heard something else.
Whispers.
Intrigued, I rewound. Sure enough, someone had whispered something. Now I'm a tinch freaked out because I don't recall anyone standing that close to the recorder. I rewound it 5 more times and thought I understood what "he" was saying but just to be sure, I popped on the headphones. There's a unintelligible whisper at first followed by "I know what you dream."
I swear to God! "I know what you dream."
I was covered in chills. And sufficiently freaked out!
I told Jordyn about it when she got home and she said, "Well, what are your dreams?" I told her I didn't even remember and she answered, "Well, at least HE knows!"
When Collin came home I let him listen to it and he agreed. The whisper is saying "I know what you dream." But why? And who is it?
Too creepy....

Freaked Out
Last weekend while Collin and I were watching a movie, he decided that it would be a good idea to move the computer from our bedroom downstairs into the dining room. I agreed. This way, when he's working on something and I want to work on something we're not on seperate floors.
So we moved the desk, the computer, the printer & it's table downstairs. Everything went smoothly. All the little stuff that was on or around the computer stayed upstairs on my dresser. This includes the little white trash can I had underneath the printer table. I still haven't gotten around to moving that trash can downstairs.
So...on to the point of my post...Friday night about midnight or so Collin & I were awakened by a loud crash. We both woke up enough to say, "What was that?" Collin thought it had come from inside my closet. Why would something inside my closet fall, I thought. Then I remembered that that night I had gone upstairs for something and noticed my closet door was open. I hadn't gone inside the closet for anything that day and didn't know why it was open. I closed it. Then when I went upstairs to go to bed, I noticed that the light inside the closet was on. It had been off when I shut it earlier. So when Collin thought something fell inside of it, I was convinced there was a ghost in the closet!
I finally fell back asleep and woke up again about 3:30am. I looked over towards the closet and saw that the trash can had actually fallen off of the dresser and that was what had made the crashing sound. I felt better about that for about 10 seconds. How the hell did the trash can fall down all by itself? Not to mention that it was laying on the ground with the opening facing the bed which if it had just fallen, the opening would have been pointing towards the bathroom. Once again, I'm a tad freaked out. But I had to go to the bathroom - that was why I had woke up. So I fling the covers back and sit up.
"no."
That's what I hear from out of nowhere. A little whisper that sounds like a little girl's voice. I said, "okay," put the covers back on me and after snuggling real close to Collin fell back asleep. When I woke up, Collin was picking up the trash and I got to thinking, maybe that little girl was trying to save me - - maybe I would have slipped on a pop can and gotten hurt. Who knows?? All I know is I heard that whisper and it very clearly said, "no."
Seriously spooky stuff!

Family Ghosts
Pat Angello had a cool post about meeting a girl who saw spirits and it reminded me of what my Mom told me the other day: my Grandma believes there's a ghost in her house.
Now this is not news to anyone in our family. Her house has been haunted since I can remember and I know Derek, Mom & I have all posted about it before. I've seen the ghost, Derek's friend Ryan saw the ghost, my cousin Shelly saw the ghost...but all this time, Grandma staunchly denied it. She thought we all suffered from overactive imaginations. She would admit that she heard the kitchen table and chairs moving around in the middle of the night but it couldn't be a ghost - there was a perfectly logical explanation for it.
Yeah! A ghost!!!
Well now she thinks there is a ghost. And I think I know who it is. Grandpa.
When Grandpa passed away in March, I began having dreams about him alot right after the funeral. In every dream he was always right by Grandma. At a restaurant or at their kitchen table, he was always sitting by her closely. I took this to mean that he wanted me to tell her that he was looking out for her, that he was with her still. Since she didn't believe in ghosts, I don't think she took my telling her that as more than just me trying to make her feel better.
Well now she says things are starting to go missing in her house, things that have been in a certain place for years are disappearing. Things from her purse, things out of cupboards, Grandpa's death certificate...it's finally made her think there's a ghost.
Now the old ghost never did anything like that. He just hung around. I think Grandpa is finally starting to get frustrated and he wants her to see that he's there so he's doing things that she has no option but to notice. Or maybe he doesn't realize he's gone...hence the stealing of the death certificate. Hmmm....
He always did have a great sense of humor, though, and what better way to show his presence than acting like a bonafide ghost!! I can't wait to go back to Grandma's house!!

GAH!
I almost got hit - in the head - by a BIRD!! A Magpie, actually. He was flying all loopy & crazy and was heading straight for my head (we were walking in front of the lake) and when I screamed, he dipped, ducked & dodged. Prescilla didn't even see it!! She thought I was crazy!
THEEENNNNN - - I'm pretty dang sure I saw a ghost! Seriously! I was handtesting on the serial floor and for the video portion of the test there's a black border that I can see my reflection in. I was checking out my hair which I had just braided and was looking to make sure that no strands were sticking out and I swear (!!!!) I saw a man walk behind me, way back against the wall. The creepy thing is that there's tables and handlers up against the wall so no one can really walk there. I whipped around & of course there was no one there!
It doesn't help that I'm also reading a spooky book.

A Ghost Story
Last Monday, my aunt Charlene was admitted into the hospital because of pneumonia and a slipped disk in her back. My Grandma took her in and waited as they settled her into her room. After a while, Grandma asked the nurse of she could see her and the nurse replied, "Yes but only one visitor is allowed in the room so you'll have to wait."
"What do you mean? There was no one else with us."
"There was a man in there with her when I walked out," the nurse told her. Now, this is Dad's side of the family, the creepy side where people see ghosties all the time so Grandma pretty much took this statement in stride.
"Was it a big man or a tall, thin man?"
"He was pretty big." The nurse poked her head into Charlene's room and of course it was devoid of visitors. Charlene said there had never been anyone with her. We figure it was her brother Jim who died 13 years ago, checking up on her.
It's comforting to know that relatives are still there for us, whether we can see them or not!
