I've always had an addictive personality. If I like something, I tend to go overboard on it. I like to read so I have hundreds of books and I'm always buying new ones. I like music so I have over a thousand cd's. It seemed that when I was little, there was always a new TV show or movie that would capture my interest and whenever I looked through any magazine or watched a show on television, I would always be keeping my eyes peeled for anything to do with my latest obsession.

Well, it's happened again. This time with the show Lost.

I didn't watch it at all last season. I knew that Dominic Monaghan was in it and that was all. I didn't understand why everyone was so addicted to this show. Even my friend Shanon & her husband and father were hooked bad! When Season 1 came out on DVD, Shanon got it and she let Collin & I borrow it (after she got her in-laws hooked). We started it Thursday night and were immediately captivated. The opening scene where the plane has just crashed was so well done I was actually crying out of sheer fear that that could ever possibly happen to me. We watched 4 episodes that first night, mainly because we simply had to find out what was going to happen next.

We continued with more on Friday night and were going to stop at 1am but whatever episode we were watching ended with a serious cliffhanger. Crap! We went to bed at 2.

On Saturday, we took the kids to see Mission: Wolf (which is a whole other post in itself, complete with pictures!!) then went for lunch. We were planning on going shopping after we ate at Trivelli's but come to find out the place closes at 3 (on a Saturday???) and we walked in at 5 till. So we took the sandwiches back to Collin's with the plan of eating while we watched 1 episode then we would continue with our shopping plan. You know what? We didn't go shopping. We finished Season 1. We watched from nearly 4pm to about 2am.

We just found out last night that Season 2 won't come to DVD until October 3rd. I'm trying to convince Collin to go in with me on buying the episodes for $2 a pop online so we can get caught up and won't be behind when Season 3 comes out but so far I've had no luck.

My favorite character? Hands down it's Hurley. I adore him. He's so funny - always has the best lines. ("The numbers are bad! The numbers are bad!!" "Hey, dude, there's a piece of Arzt on you." "Oh, dude, you didn't hear about the polar bear?") Then there's Sawyer - like Shanon said, always the bad guy for me. There's not really any character I dislike - my least favorite would have to be Shannon if I had to pick.

So there you go. A new Lost addict has joined the ranks but I'm still in the back, trying to catch up

For my birthday, Collin bought me the Bret "Hitman" Hart DVD - it's a 3 DVD collection all about my favorite professional wrestler. I'll admit that I used to be waaay into wrestling...Derek & I used to sit in front of the TV in anticipation every Saturday at 4pm to watch an hour of WWF Wrestling. One afternoon it was preempted for something stupid and Derek actually called the TV station to complain!! But we were hooked! We had a favorites - mine were usually the good guys like Ricky "The Dragon" Steamboat and The British Bulldogs. And then one day The Hart Foundation came out to wrestle - I took one look at Bret Hart and was down for the count. Man, he was CUTE!!!

I got to see him wrestle live once up in Denver and I brought along a handmade sign that said, "Bret Hart I Love You!" I was about 13 rows back but he saw it and smiled at me! :-) There were 3 guys sitting in front of us - my Mom had accompanied Derek & I to this event...we dragged her along to a lot of wrestling things... - anyway, these guys were making fun of me because I liked Bret Hart. One turned to me and said, "You know Bret Hart is gay, right?" And I immediately shot back, "You wish!" Mom was shocked. She thought I was always the quiet one...not that what I said was bad or anything...

Anyway, anyway...I'm blathering on here so I'll get to my point. The other day I was in Target and I bought a pink & black Mickey Mouse sleep tank. It's cute & comfy and I wore it to bed the first night I had it. Subconsciously, I must have thought, "These were Bret Hart's colors when he wrestled" because I had a dream* about him. I was backstage at a wrestling event and all these wrestlers were walking past me - I remember seeing Hunter Herst Helmsley and Nikolai Volkoff but I was there to see The Hitman! I was standing behind some barriers and there he was! The girls were going crazy, chanting his name and he was kissing them all on the lips! I was so excited cuz I was gonna kiss Bret Hart! Well, he got to me, looked at my pink & black tank top in appreciation then laid one on me! Then I woke up.

This dream made me realize that I hadn't yet watched the DVD that Collin had bought me so Sunday morning when I got home from work, I popped it in to watch while I worked on my Thank You cards.** The first disc was like a biography of him and his matches & titles. They showed snippets from the match where he & Jim "The Anvil" Neidhart*** won the WWF Tag Team Championship and I started laughing. I couldn't help it - they showed the date: February 2, 1987. The reason I was laughing was because I now knew the exact date that I got kicked off the cheerleading squad when I was in high school!!

I missed 3 games because I didn't have transportation and per the rules of Cheerleading, I was kicked off the team. I got home and was telling Mom who was lecturing me about the responsibility that I had thrown away, blah blah blah and during a lull in the conversation Derek piped up with, "The Hart Foundation won the Tag Team Championship last night." I was all excited and started asking him questions and Mom blew up! "You care more about some fake wrestling belt than you do being kicked off the team!!!" Well...yeah. But it amused me that seeing that match on the DVD could bring back a memory like that!

* = I called Mom last night and was telling her about the dream. When I got to the part where Bret Hart kissed me, Mom yelled, "It's Bret Hart!" I was like..."Yeah, he was kissing me!" But she said he was on TV. As soon as I mentioned his name, he was on TV, talking about some Bret Hart Fan Club or something. What are the odds?

** = I've started a new hobby - making cards. Shanon started doing it a while back and I thought it was a great idea. Something a little more personal than a Hallmark card. I made 3 Thank You cards and Collin scanned them for me...I'll post them on Thursday for you to see.

*** = Mom cracks me up. One afternoon we were driving somewhere (I was in high school) and out of the blue she piped up with, "If you married Bret Hart but hyphened your name with Knight, you'd be Heather Knight-Hart...like Neidhart! Hahahahahahahaha!!!" I loved that she was thinking I could marry Bret Hart! But to come up with the pun on his partner's name...classic.

There's nothing going on to blog about. Nothing too exciting has happened unless you count the murder that happened outside my parents' townhome complex Tuesday morning. They were awakened at 3:30am by a policeman ringing their doorbell asking if they had seen or heard anything. Sadly, the victim was the 20 year old son of the people who live a couple of doors away from my parents. And to have something like this happen so close to Thanksgiving...you know the holidays will be ruined forever for his family. The last I saw, the police had no suspects and no motive but the CSPD is usually very good at catching murderers and such...remember the Texas 7? There was a murder a few years ago that involved a high school friend of my brother's and they caught her killer within a couple of weeks, maybe not even that long.

Now that I've probably dampened everyone's holiday spirit...

Collin & I came across the Danish miniseries "Rigit" at the library...it was the original series that inspired Stephen King's "Kingdom Hospital." It was subtitled, of course, but it was very intriguing. The character development was great...there were only 5 episodes but by the second we already had our favorites and the ones we wouldn't mind seeing being "gotten" by the ghost! The best part was the credits where the creator, Lars Von Trier, addressed the audience. After the first episode, he actually said, "If you find the story dull and predictable then look to your own life..." He always ended with, "If you choose to join us again be prepared to take the good (he made the sign of the cross with his finger as he said this) with the evil (then he made the devil sign with his fingers. It was awesome!)." My point here is if you saw the Stephen King miniseries then you should check out the original, if you can deal with the subtitles. Andrew McCarthy plays the lead, Dr. Hook. in the remake and so far he's doing a good job. The Danish actor, Soren Pilmark, did a great job so McCarthy had his work cut out for him living up to that.

Okay, now that my Firefly obsession is out of the way...on to my cute story!

Last week I went Christmas shopping with Shanon & Elena. When I got in the car I noticed that Shanon had in a Paul McCartney disc. She mentioned that the night before the commercial that Paul has for the investment company came on and that Elena was very excited and said the TV was playing the song that plays in the car. The next day she wanted to listen to it. And then she wanted to hear "Band On The Run." But she doesn't call it that, she calls it "Band On The RUG." And we listened to it over & over & over. Every time it ended a little voice from the back seat would say, "Can I hear it again, Mama?" Shanon ended up just putting it on repeat.

The best part was listening to her sing it. She not only sang the words but sang along with the guitar parts!! She'd be very quiet on the verses and then when the chorus hit it was her full 4-year-old voice: "BAND ON THE RUG!! BAND ON THE RUUUG! LA LA LA AND SAILOR SAM..." It was way too cute!!!
